Blogging Task 8

WordPress.com

When visitng the wordpress site you are shown links topic and recent blogs, a small space is dedicated to logging in. The cursor is automatically placed within the username field allowing the user to quickly type in their username. A remember me function exists allowing for the site to remember your details make logging in quicker the next time, and a lost password option.

Once logged in the login part of the website changed and offers a link to the user’s blog site. At the top of the page a number of new links appear (My Account, My Dashboard, New Post , Blog Info) these links allow the user to change details about their account, enter the blog and go straight to creating a new post for the blog. In order to log out the user must be in the dashboard.

Gmail.com

Gmail offers a separate login screen, meaning the user must login before they can access anything to do with the site unless they are creating a new account. The username field is selected automatically  The login has the remember me option so if you have been to the site before it can remember your log in details. It also has the option I cannot access my account.

Once logged in you are redirected to your gmail account. You are offered a number of options such viewing email, make dates on the calendar, adding photos and viewing the blog site google reader. You are also informed on how much space you are using in your account and also shows details of the last time you accessed. To log out users simply click sign out at top right of the page.

Del.icio.us

To login into del.icio.us you must select log in at the home webpage. You are redirected to the log in screen which as for a username and password, an option is also available if you have forgotten your password.

The process for del.icio.us is much slower because the login screen is a separate link on the main page, whereas with wordpress the log in screen is part of the home page and with gmail the login screen is shown first. These two sites make the log in phase much quicker.
